Yoga is an art quite different from the rest of the disciplines at Diesel Gym, but one certainly worth experiencing. Yoga is a form of exercise based around strength, flexibility, mobility and balance. While it is low impact it still provides a strong challenge, this makes it perfect for:
- Complete fitness beginners
- People with arthritis and other auto-immune conditions
- Experienced athletes looking to increase their overall strength and movement
- Jiu Jitsu athletes in need of some extra flexibility
- Thai Boxers wanting to throw high kicks and knees
In these classes your strength and flexibility will be challenged and worked in unexpected ways. Our Yoga teacher Mel will use his knowledge of yoga, Budokon yoga and his mobility training, including Ido Portal methods to work on developing your body’s capabilities. Each class will have a different anatomical focus and while the classes will be open to all levels you will see a very quick progression in your body and opening of different joints and mobility. Using these classes as an opportunity to develop your other practices whether you are a regular martial artist with us or simply want to come along and join our yoga, this class will be open to all.
Mel has a cheeky sense of humour so while he will impart his knowledge of anatomy, breathing, yoga and mobility, you can rest assured that you’ll be doing so with a smile on your face. The classes are generally quite slow paced and deceptive in their level of difficulty but there will be plenty of options and modifications for all levels of practitioners. Mel has in-depth knowledge across a wide range of topics so we can make sure that the classes fit the needs of the participants and the practices they do on a regular basis.
